Lew Morgante and Eric Shouse advance from Round 4 to the Finals!

Lew Morgante and Eric Shouse advance from round 4
What a TOUGH round of Port City's Top Comic!! In the end when the smoke cleared and Matt finished counting the votes from the SOLD OUT capacity crowd at Nutt Street, comedians Lew Morgante and Eric Shouse advanced.

Lew discussed his big man eating habits and Eric talked about a funny thing his son said to his teachers.  Believe me, that is not doing justice to describe the hillarity that both brought to the stage.

Here is the thing, EVERY comic brought the thunder!!  It was one of the best rounds (from a producer and audience standpoint) I have ever witnessed in any comedy contest, ever.

Louis Bishop and Steve Melia Advance to the Finals from Round 3!

Steve Melia and Louis Bishop
Wilmington comics Steve Melia and Louis Bishop beat out the competition on Friday night during Round 3 of the 2013 Port City's Top Comic at Nutt Street Comedy Room.  Both put on very engaged excited performances that left little room for gaps between laughs.

Melia, energized from the release of his first book chronicling his trip to see all 162 New York Yankees regular season games a few years back.  I would include a link here, but I can't freaking find one.... Steve will have copies in his hands on Monday, so get your copy from him or get it at the finals.

Louis Bishop continues to blow me away just about each time I see him this time lighting up the predominately older crowd with an impression of his mother discussing her fears of his abduction and more.

The finals are going to be awesome, but we have one more night, what could prove to be the toughest round of Port City's Top Comic EVER tonight at Nutt Street Comedy Room.  If you don't get tickets in advance, you WON'T get in.  It will be sold out, plain and simple!!

Steven Knows and Colton DeMonte Advance from Round 2

Steven Knows and Colton DeMonte
Saturday night at Nutt Street Comedy Room was a SELL OUT show for the 2nd Round of the 2013 Port City's Top Comic Contest.  It proved to be another amazing night of comics with the top 2nd-3rd-4th and 5th place comics all being within 15 points of each other.  Steven Knows, a comic that lives just outside of Atlanta but spends most of his time perfecting his act in the ATL walked away with the most votes.  He harkens back to Port City's Top Comic 2011 Champion Jamie Ward, not because he is also Asian American, but because his act is relatively PG and Jamie also came from the Atlanta area.  Ok, also because he is Asian.

Colton DeMonte pulled out the 2nd place spot advancing to the finals by breaking into a dance routine as the climax to his set.  I won't tell you WHAT he danced to, you can come to the finals to check that out yourself.

Friday and Saturday are the 3rd and 4th rounds of the contest.  We are excited for the weekend to come and know that there are some very fierce competitors on the schedule that will make my job counting votes a very tedious and necessarily accurate one!

Clif Cash and Zack Burk Advance to the Finals

The first round of Port City's Top Comic was a huge success with nearly a sell out crowd in attendance.  The comics all turned in excellent sets getting the crowd going and laughing hard.  At the end of the night only two comics advanced to the finals of Port City's Top Comic.  Zack Burk had the set of the night channeling some type of mega-swagger that roped the crowd in and kept them with him.

Cliff Cash began his set sounding like he lived in the woods of Columbus County garnering a solid laugh about every 30 seconds for the rest of his set walking away with the most audience votes.

Tonight is Round 2 and ticket sales are indicating it will be a sell out!  RSVP HERE>>
Performing tonight will be
Anthony Corvino Jr.- Wilmington, NC
Beth Raynor- Wilmington, NC
Steven Knows- Daluth, GA
